Public elementary schools include Canyon Vista, Don Juan Avila, Oak Grove and Wood Canyon Elementary schools. Middle schools include Aliso Viejo and Don Juan Avila. Aliso Niguel is the only public high school in the area. Private schools in Aliso Viejo include the VanDamme Academy, St. Mary and All Angels School, Aliso Viejo Christian School, and a private university, the Soka University of America.

Aliso Viejo has 25 colleges and universities within 30 miles, including Saddleback College in nearby Mission Viejo, as well as several institutions in Irvine, including Brandman University, Concordia University, Irvine Valley College, and the University of California-Irvine.
